Volunteer dies while clearing dead trees

Channahon, IL – 66 year old Jerry Cole died while clearing dead trees from a recreational area to prepare for the upcoming camping season. According to witnesses, he and his brother were cutting down a large tree. His brother was in the tree and he was on the ground when (the tree) suddenly snapped and fell the wrong way. The tree landed on Cole, who was the president of the Area No. 1 Club. He was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
