Landscaper using tree stand gets knocked out in a tree, dies from injuries

43 year old Benjamin E. McKenzie was knocked unconscious and needed to be rescued from a tree in North Augusta. McKenzie was employed by Tiger Paws Lawn Care and was removing a large Oak tree. The company was using a ladder and deer stand to access the tree. During the removal a rope snapped and a limb hit McKenzie in the head causing severe trauma. The impact knocked McKenzie unconscious and he became trapped in the tree.

Kervin Brothers Tree Service was called to assist in the rescue effort but was not involved in the accident in any way.

McKenzie was transported to Augusta University Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
