An unidentified tree trimmer’s life was saved after he severed an artery with a chainsaw. The man was trimming trees and sustained a deep cut to his wrist. Two Gainesville police officers arrived to the scene to find a man covered in blood. They applied a tourniquet and direct pressure to the wound before sending him off to the hospital. At UF Health Shands, a trauma physician told the officers that the man had a fractured bone in his hand and had severed an artery.
