This Post Oak ( Quercus stellatta ) near the old Quarry Golf Course in Chattanooga, TN is considered to be the tallest of its kind in the US. Although it is in 2nd place in overall champion tree status, it stands 112 feet tall making it the tallest recorded tree of it’s kind. #tree #talltree #funfact

Avoid all of this by throw balling a hand line and notching it from the ground, f climbing that thing

Wtf. Set the rope higher. And don't cut through your notch. Be safe

Never cut more then you can hold.

That was close almost as close as his tag line was to his cut

Tag line too low... Rooky or lazy....

Should set the rope higher, all you need is a pimp stick to reach up higher. Put a notch in and tell them to pull when your ready.. I have been a tree trimmer for 18 years..that shit would never happen around me or the guys I work with.. that's a dumb short cut. He could have got killed.

Leverage is your friend 😂 . Should have set 1 rope with a hook and fiberglass poles higher up and 1 a little lower just in case top one breaks the dead limb . Work practices like that will either put you in the hospital or the graveyard he was lucky !

So many ways that could've been avoided.... Dude made a bad decision is what happened.

Too low, no hinge, deadwood, disaster

Rope to low...... For sure

No hinge?

He is lucky he is still alive REALLY if it wouldn't had hit the limb above his head he could of be hurt bad WHY PPL DO STUPID THINGS IN A TREE ILL NEVER NO

Obviously not a skilled operator 😳

If this was distribution, outage and potentially a fatality.

Show this to kids who wanna know why geometry and physics are needed in the real world. . That pull rope should have been way higher, for greater leverage. . A notch should have been cut out of right side. . Never cut through your hinge (he didn't even have a hinge)

Not seeing any reason a cut at the base couldn’t have been utilized, but yeah obviously a better rope angle and an actual hinge would have helped

That's what happens when you don't have the balls to climb higher.

Few less cuts to make and one less pair of underwear!

Pull that rope while I cut this thing on my head!! You got it.

Holy shit change my underwear I just shit them!!

Cut through his hinge nobody’s fault but his own

That shit weighed 15 pounds

Rope tied to low no leverage to pull it over

Gary Brough what I was telling you about CPL days ago

Whoa!

This colossal tree may be the largest single trunk live oak in the world. It’s 89 feet tall, with a crown spreading more than 140 feet, and a circumference of 34 feet, three inches. The Spooner Live Oak is located just south of Iron City in Seminole County, Georgia and will be measured in the next few weeks to certify it’s status. #bigtree #treenews #liveoak #oak #spoonerliveoak

Stop parking your goddamned cars on the roots you dingalings

Hold my beer, I’ve got this!

Who can I contact to have a tree measured have a oak out here that's taller but not as wide

Lake Griffin Park in Lake County Florida has a 50+ foot circumference trunk.

This Live Oak in Arlington Virginia (that’s in Northern Virginia -suburb of Washington DC), may be the largest this far north (zone7b -I think) Would be interested to know if there’s one larger further north. I hear they are planting live oaks in Baltimore Maryland. But they have not withstood the test of time and weather yet. And this one clearly has.

This tree HAS to be measured for wood volume as it may set a new eastern US record.

CUT IT!!!

Nice so lets park some fuckn cars under it. What a bunch of dipshits

Justine Paré road trip!!!

I'd love to rec climb that tree holy moly

I climbed it;). It’s a beauty.

It’s already been measured by American Forests certified big tree measurer Eli Dickerson.

No way thats 89 ft tall

Follerin'

Wow is right.

Beautiful.

Double awesome.....

Awesome!!

That little hook, I assume is a rope guide looks like something to snag limbs which could end up in a bad day for Climber

Cams need a mechanism to stay open. That fairlead will break off from climbing around with it on.

Looks slim lined and nice for working in the canopy without having to take it off

Can you wear on both feet at the same time then?

Looks like alot more things to break
