Tree infested with Asian Longhorned Beetle found in Auburn

Auburn, MA – Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Monday that a red maple tree was found on January 14th infested with Asian Longhorned Beetle.

The tree was discovered at Pakachoag Golf Course in Auburn.

Rhonda Santos, a spokeswoman for the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, said there were no other infested trees when the area was inspected last week.

Santos stated that no adult beetles were found, but that there were egg sites and emergence holes. There will be tree climbers dispatched to the area to conduct additional surveys for the next two weeks.
