Tree climber injured after tie in point breaks

Buffalo, NY – A man trimming trees in the backyard of a home was injured when the limb he was tied into broke. The man fell with the branch and landed onto the edge of a roof with the limb landing on top of him. The limb pinned him on the roof. Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the man and provide medical care to him. The rescuers then lifted the limb off the man and placed him on the basket which then lowered him to the ground. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center.

A rescuer was quoted saying that the silver maple limb he was tied into may have been rotted and could have caused the fall. He also estimated it at 14 inches in diameter and 5 feet long.
