Phoenix, AZ – A man in his 40s has died after palm fronds collapsed on him.
According to Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Rob McDade, firefighters were dispatched around 10 AM for reports of a tree trimmer stuck halfway up a palm tree.
When crews arrived they found the man trapped under palm fronds 20 feet up a tree in the back yard of a private residence.
Technical rescue team members quickly tried to free the man from the tree, but McDade said he was “beyond any resuscitative efforts once he was rescued”.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
