Tampa man dies after chainsaw kicks back

Tampa, FL – 55 year old Wilfredo Hernandez died while clearing branches after Hurricane Irma. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez was up in a tree with a chainsaw dropping branches. One branch became entangled with the saw and caused it to kick up and strike him in the neck. The saw severed his carotid artery and jugular vein causing him to bleed to death. Paramedics rushed to the scene and used a harness to lower him from the tree he was working on. When Hernandez reached the ground, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
