Sewickley Township fireman injured by fallen tree

Sewickley Township, PA – A 62-year-old firefighter was injured while clearing a tree from the roadway.

Firefighters received word that a downed tree was blocking Lowber Road around 7 p.m. The tree was tangled up in vines.

Lowber Fire Department Chief Matt Geis stated, “As we were cutting it, the tree fell and when it hit the ground, the base of it came up and hit my fireman.”

The victim was transported to the hospital conscious but suffered a broken shoulder.
