Robert Watkins, 56, A manager with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department was in critically injured when a large tree fell on him while crews were working. According to the San Francisco Fire Department, Watkins was overseeing a crew of tree trimmers around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday when a tree fell in an unexpected way and crushed him, prompting state workplace safety regulators at Cal/OSHA to open an investigation. Watkins broke his right ankle, tore ligaments in the joint, suffered a concussion, and broke his back.
