Operator injured when bucket truck overturned in Maryland

Mardela Springs, MD – 22-year-old Johny Arnoldo Picon Velasquez was injured when the bucket truck he was using overturned. Reports say that Velazquez was an employee of Honey Cove Lawn Care and was hired to cut trees for the Maryland State Highway Administration. The truck was set up on the grass berm and the boom was extended over the side. Velazquez was about 25 to 30 feet in the air when the truck tipped over.

He was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries. A spokesperson for Shock Trauma confirmed Thursday morning that Velasquez was in “good condition.”

State police said Maryland Occupational Safety and Health also responded to the scene.
