Member of tree removal crew dies after log rolls on top of him

Ormond Beach, FL – 47 year old Steven Barna lost his life while cleaning up debris left by hurricane Matthew. The incident happened shortly before 6 PM. He was cutting up a downed tree when a large portion of the tree rolled, pinning him underneath. Barna’s nephew heard him screaming, found him pinned under the log and yelled for help. Co-workers rushed to his aid and removed the log from on top of him. Paramedics rushed to the scene but it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Barna was working for Chagrin Falls, Ohio based Mr. Falls Tree Group. The company sent five crews and equipment to Florida to assist with Hurricane relief.
