Man’s leg severed after rope gets caught in the chipper

Wilberforce, Australia – A 51-year-old tree worker was injured after a length of rope, that was wrapped around his leg, got caught in the chipper.

According to reports, the man was working a property around 11 AM on Monday when a rope that was coiled near his leg got caught in a wood chipper that was meters away. The force was strong enough to sever his leg below the knee.

The man was stabilized at the scene and his leg was preserved by paramedics.

The man went into surgery upon his arrival at Westmead Hospital and is now in a stable condition.
