Man trimming a tree falls 30 to 40 feet in Godfrey

Godfrey, IL – A 53-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after falling 30 to 40 feet out of a tree he was trimming. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene at about 10:45 AM. The man suffered an arm injury and possible internal injuries, according to Godfrey Fire Protection District firefighter John Wilson. He was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

No specific details were released on how the man actually fell from the tree but a firefighter stated that his safety harness may have failed causing the fall. Godfrey based Elite Tree Service was parked outside the scene but declined to comment on the accident.
