Man seriously injured after palm fronds collapse in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ – A man in his 30s was seriously injured while trimming trees on Sunday. The man, who was not identified, was about 50 feet up a palm tree in his climbing harness when fronds collapsed on him. The fronds “incapacitated” him according to Capt. Jake Van Hook with the Phoenix Fire Department. The man wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse when fire crews reached him. The man was rescued 13 minutes after a neighbor heard him screaming and called for help. He was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital where he’s in extremely critical condition.
