Man falls from bucket truck after hydraulic system fails

Robert A. Fournier, 50, of Chatham, was cutting branches in a aerial bucket 30 feet up when the hydraulic system supporting the boom appeared to have failed, causing the bucket to descend rapidly. He was ejected from the platform and landed on his head. Fournier was not wearing a harness, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His company, Fournier Forestry Service, was contracted by the town to prune and remove trees along Howe road. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident.
