Man dead after touching power line while trimming trees

UPDATE: 6/18/18 – The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Joshua Shadrick according to the Springfield Police Department. The police also stated that Shadrick worked for Tree Busters and OSHA has been notified of the accident.

Panama City, FL – A 35-year-old man died Friday afternoon after making contact with a power line while trimming trees. The man was using a was using a Biljax 3522A articulated platform to access the trees.

A witness, who declined to be identified, said she was inside her living room moments earlier when a distressed woman she believed to be the girlfriend or spouse of the victim ran past her window toward a truck holding numerous cut limbs. When the woman ran back past, the witness said she stepped outside her home to see a man’s body dangling from the lift bucket.

It is believed that the man was working alone.

Gulf Power crews responded and turned the power off to the affected lines, allowing first responders to recover the man’s body from the raised lift. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
