Lapeer County, Michigan man dies in tree-cutting accident

35 year old Jeremy Machiela was removing a tree with four other family members. They were using a bucket lift to remove a section of the 60 foot tree. They set up next to the tree with the bucket and set a rope in a section there were trying to drop. The section did not go in the intended direction and came back onto the bucket. Machiela and piece both fell about 30 feet onto the roof of a nearby shed. Although he was wearing a safety harness, he was ejected from the bucket and struck the roof of the shed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
