Greenfield man injured while clearing trees from a trail

Greenfield, NH – Sheldon Pennoyer was injured in a tree-cutting accident and was rescued from a wooded area. Police and fire responded to the call around mid-day on Friday.

Reports say that Pennoyer had been out with his dog Rusty clearing a trail on his land and was using a chainsaw. Greenfield Police Chief Brian Giammarino said, “We believe he was cutting down trees and a tree got away from him. It wasn’t the chainsaw itself.”

Pennoyer had deep lacerations on the front and back of his head, and possible shoulder and rib injuries.

He was rescued from the remote wooded location by an ATV and airlifted to a Massachusetts hospital.
