Fresno firefighters rescue a tree worker trapped by palm fronds

Fresno, CA – An unidentified tree worker was rescued by Fresno firefighters after he became trapped by palm fronds 25 feet up a tree.

A neighbor called 911 around 9 AM after she heard a worker yelling, “Ayudame! Help me!”

Reports say that the man was working to clear fronds when he slipped and was unable to free himself.

Fire crews worked for 45 minutes to free the man.

“He was buried so far in there we couldn’t see his safety rope which we knew was holding him to some degree we didn’t want to cut his rope and we couldn’t see him clearly,” says Fresno Fire Captain Lupe Fernandez.

The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover.
