Deadline to apply for the NJ Licensed Tree Care Operator grandfathering license expires April 12th

On April 17, 2017, the NJ Board of Tree Experts starting implementing the 2010 Tree Expert and Tree Care Operator Licensing Act. NJ Certified Tree Experts in good standing with the Board were converted to Licensed Tree Experts. After that, the Board started registering businesses and brought Tree Care Operators into the Licensing program as well. Most of the Licensed Tree Care Operators (LTCO) have been accepted by a grandfathering process of having 7 years of experience in the tree care industry, but the deadline for accepting applications is expiring.

On April 12th, 2018, the NJ Board of Tree Experts will no longer accept LTCO grandfathering applications. An LTCO license can still be obtained by examination or through LTCO Reciprocity.
