Davey employee struck by a pickup truck in front of Valley Center High School

A pickup truck struck and killed a Davey employee near Valley Center High School. The man walked onto Cole Grande Road to pick up fallen tree branches and crossed directly into the path of a 2004 GMC Sierra. The truck struck the man at 35 MPH. The driver of the GMC immediately stopped after the collision and was fully cooperating with CHP officers, who were investigating the fatal accident. The 26 year old man was pronounced dead that scene. At least one other Davey Tree employee was present at the time of the accident. According to California Highway Patrol, the tree crew did have cones and signs posted.
