Authorities identify man killed in Hoover logging accident

Hoover, AL – 51 year old John Robert Townsend died after being struck by a log being moved. Townsend died from trauma suffered after being hit by a log that slipped from large mechanical boom loader. He was operating a chainsaw at the time of the incident. Townsend was part of a crew from Centreville-based Randolph & Randolph Logging Company working to clear trees for a new residential subdivision. He was pronounced dead at the scene
