26-year-old Whitman female was rescued after stump grinder rolls on her

Cohasset, MA – A 26-year-old woman was rescued by Cohasset police and firefighters after a stump grinder she was using rolled on top of her.

The accident happened shortly after 12 PM on Monday. The Rayco stump grinder, owned by Monster Tree of Cohasset, rolled onto the victim and trapped her leg under the machine.

“An officer quickly applied a tourniquet to the victim’s upper thigh, and 4-additional officers lifted the heavy machine, freeing her,” officials said.

The woman was treated and stabilized by firefighter-paramedics and brought to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

“A federal investigator from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) came to the scene and will take primary jurisdiction of the investigation,” police said.
