Crafers, Australia – No one was hurt when a 130 ton crane overturned while assisting in tree removal. Arborist Adrian James was at the top of the tree when the accident happened. He said that the crane operator rotated the the boom to lower the piece when the machine started to tip over. James shouted to warn people on the ground of the danger. The crane smashed into a car and pulled down wires but no one was injured.
The crane operator was helped out of the cab by other workers, unharmed but embarrassed. SafeWork SA investigators arrived at the scene and will to work with the crane’s owner to establish what went wrong.
